  1. I rented the movie, Gravity, basically follow Sandra Bullock, whom I adore; I’m not a fan of George Clooney. Sitting alone watching the dvd allowed me to fast forward through the film–I’m not into sci fi either. However, the re-viewing brought enjoyment to the experience of intelligent observation. What was boring to me then, now makes sense. Even the name of the movie,Gravity, is ironic–what’s holding you down. I now understand the long take in the opening scene-quiet, still and undisturbed, yet the cosmos is alive. There, Dr. Stone (Bullock) has her own personal (selfish) mission to complete. The use of light and shadows is symbolic, often Clooney’s character is light while Bullock’s is dark; he’s whole and health while she is fragmented and literally lost in space. I loved the scene where she is entering the Chinese space station and a close up shot of a ping pong paddle is floating. There’s life and laughter in China (?) while a plea for help, “Mayday Mayday” goes without answer. Were they, the Chinese, toasting and boasting because they made it back to Earth.

  2. I have watched Mad Max about 3 times now and everytime I watch it I pick up soemthing new. This movie has a ton of action and very suspenseful it makes you want to keep watching. What I really enjoy about this movie it that you don’t suspect what will happen next, with most other movies you kind get an idea of what will happen with Mad Max you don’t. The music used in this film makes me want to be part of the car chase and be there driving a furry car! The loud/hard music makes the movie so much more dramatic. Things I noticed was that the wives were all dresses in white to represent how pure they are. When they finally get to where the green place should have been Furiosa is kneeling in the middle of the dessert and they take a long shot of her there I believe it was purposely done that way to make us feel upset or even frustrated that they left and put so much at risk to finally arrive and find nothing. Also in that scene the old ladies that come out answer questions like “what others we are all that’s left” but the camera isn’t pointing at them but instead at Furiosa and the voice of the ladies sounds sort of faint to illusion that the Furiosa can’t believe what she’s hearing wnd does want to hear it anymore. During this film I was never lost I always knew where I was and what war parties were fighting that made the film so much more enjoyable. Especially in a film like this where there is so much going on and so more other involved yet I never got lost. The way that all characters were dressed made it more interesting and made them all seem though looking. Something that I would have done different was made given some sort of background of why everything is gone? Why are all these people sick and amputated or born wrong?? I actually had no idea other Mad Max movies existed and therefor I would have wanted a better explanation of how this all came to be (personal opinion). I just wanted a better understanding of why things were the way they were. Other than that I enjoyed the film a lot!
